Connecting: Laptop to a Sharp projector
Getting started
- Remove projector's lens cap (if it still has one).
- Connect both power cords and monitor cord.
- Turn on laptop and projector.
- Lamp needs to warm up. Don't panic if light doesn't appear immediately.
- Projector has two power buttons. First turn on the square master switch
(near power connector) and then depress the circular 'ON' button (on front
panel along with other buttons 'OFF', 'Volume', 'Mute' etc.)
- No image? On laptop, push Fn-F8 key combination.
- Key Locator: 'Fn' is the purple key below the 'Shift' key, and 'F8'
is the function key above the '7' and '8' keys.
- Don't panic if no image appears. If either there is only a blue screen projected
to the wall or there is no image at all, then push the Fn-F8 key combination
again. Pause to allow the hardware to update between each Fn-F8 press.
The purpose of pushing the Fn-F8 key combo is to cycle through a connection
mode. There are 3 modes and you just have to cycle through till you reach
the right one. The modes are listed as follows:
- projector only
- laptop only
- projector and laptop
You want mode 3 to enable the image to be both projected to the wall and
to the laptop.
- Adjust focus by sliding focus lever on lens.
Shutting down
- Push button twice. To turn off the projector you will need to push the 'OFF'
button twice.
- Leave projector on. To preserve the life of the lamp, it is best to leave
the projector on once the lamp has been turned off. Leave the master 'ON/OFF'
switch on and turn lamp off by pushing the circular 'OFF' switch.
Connecting: Laptop to Eiki or Boxlight Projector
Getting started
Same as steps 1-5 above. In this case there is one additional "Feature."
- "Mode" button on the projector is a toggle
between Video mode and Computer mode. The mode must be set to "computer".
If you cannot see what mode the projector is in then either you haven't
- waited for the lamp to warm up. In this case of course you wouldn't
be able to see anything let alone the projector's mode
- pressed the Fn-F8 key combo enough to the "projector and laptop"
mode
Push the mode button to turn video mode off and computer mode on.
