About CSE Wireless Network  Ground Rules for Private Devices  Register for CSE Network Access

The CSE network, which includes both wired and wireless access, is intended for research and instruction in computer science and engineering and is restricted to use by faculty, students and staff of the CSE Department. Ground Rules for Members of CSE You are not prohibited from connecting your privately owned device to our network. Use of the network is governed by the same rules that govern use while on lab machines. You realize that the instant that you connect, your machine becomes subject to attacks at high rates, and that violation of your machine may cause problems for the department. In light of that, you have been diligent about applying security patches, turning off servers, and taking other responsible measures to minimize the vulnerability of your machine. By definition, no problem you're having connecting your private machine is urgent. If something doesn't work, you can contact support for help, but there is no such thing as an "emergency" that justifies an attempt to subvert the standard procedures for connecting - use a department machine instead. No taking over the identity of any department machine. No unplugging lab or other shared machines. How to Connect You can connect either through the wired or wireless infrastructures. Either way you will have to authenticate. The preferred method is to register your device, which gives you automatic access; but you can also authenticate using your CSENetID each time you connect. Further details on how to register are here. Once registered, and after you have configured your device for DHCP, you're good to go.
