The University's SSID is "UniversityofWashington"
and is case and spelling sensitive!! We are broadcasting this information however which
makes it a tad easier.
Scope: This page is being built to help in the configuration information to access SIEG's Wireless network for Cisco/Aironet wireless cards.
What do I need? The first thing you will need will be the software for the Orinoco card. This can be found on the CD that was shipped with the card, from the web at Cisco (ver. 6.64) or CSE's software distribution area which has a limited amount of drivers. What do I do next? 1.) Install the card as directed by the documentation provided. The below is to help you out a bit on the installation of the CSE session ID (SSID). "UniversityofWashington" Once you've installed the drivers for the card, you'll want to do one of two things. A.) Install the Aironet Client Utility (ver 4.14 is out)
2.) (Optional due to broadcasting of SSID's) Click "Commands" and choose "Edit Properties". From here you can enter the SSID's that you would like to associate with. NOTE: Client name should be your own computer's name. Mine happens to be "Orcas". Note the following picture shows the SSID for Computer Science and Engineering and Campus which is "UniversityofWashington".
Or to associate with any network that's broadcasting their SSID's, use the following.
3.) Hit "OK" to save these changes and exit out of the utility. NOTE: Much of this can also be done by using the Device Manager in Windows to specify your SSID's manually. Last updated: Sept 14th, 2001 |
