- Version 2.0 - July 5, 2006
- Add Grey-Listing, two new quarantine features, and major upgrade
of SpamAssassin...
- Three new features, all based on individual SpamBuster preferences:
- Grey-Listing will reject all incoming "new"
mail, then accept it if resent within normal resend
limits. Most spammers do not bother to check for
(or resend) rejected mail. (The operation of
grey-listing is actually more complex and subtle.)
This is an opt-in feature.
- Auto-discard - limits the amount of mail that
accumulates in the Spam Quarantine.
- Mass-discard - a convenient way to discard
all messages in your quarantine (based on age or
score).
- Detection engine upgraded from SA 3.0.4 to 3.1.3 (a major upgrade)
- SpamBuster terminology change from "hits" to "score" (most
noticable in the spam tags added to the message headers).
- SpamBuster statistics - by the month, day, and hour.
Also, the top sources (and receives) of spam. Archives going
back to January 2004.
- All traffic distributed locally via CSE mailing lists is
now filtered by SpamBuster, based on individual
recipient's SpamBuster preferences.
- Version 1.2a - Jun 5, 2005
- SpamAssassin (the underlying rules engine) changed from version
3.0.2 to version 3.0.4, with numerous bug fixes for SpamAssassin,
new rules.
- Version 1.2 - Feb 2, 2005
- SpamAssassin (the underlying rules engine) changed from version 2.63 to version 3.0.2 with network black-list testings disabled on UW addresses.
- Version 1.1a - Jan 4, 2005
- Bayesian Classifier temporarily disabled (due to corrupt
database).
- Version 1.1 - Nov 13, 2003
- Add two new features:
- good & bad lists,
- filtering for non-English messages,
which are individually controlled through User Preferences.
Make the exception handling for mail originating within the
College of Engineering (engr.washington.edu) be controlled
through users' good lists, rather than hard-coded in SpamBuster.
- Version 1.0 - Apr, 2003
- Handles multiple-recipient mail properly, for most cases
(exceptions are legacy mailing lists still handled through alias
on June or in /cse/mailinglists).
Changes the scope of mail that is not scanned to include mail
originating within engr.washington.edu (and CSE).
- Version 0.9 (Beta) - Mar 18, 2003
- Initial release.
Multiple-recipient mail scanned and scored, but not filtered
or treated based on individual user preferences.
