This page is designed to walk you through configuring Microsoft Outlook to connect to the Exchange server.

Important Notes:

• These instructions were created with Outlook 2003 (if you have another version, it will be similiar, but expect variations).
• These instructions are for machines that are being used locally (inside the Allen Center), or that have already configured L2TP.
• Outlook 2003 supports a new feature which allows it to work through a firewall, if your firewall prevents L2TP. This feature is call RPC over HTTP. If you have Outlook 2003 installed, follow the directions here after completing this setup.

Configure Outlook

Click 'Start-Settings-Control Panel' and find the 'Email' Icon, and open it (double-click). You should see the following screen. (using Office XP, office 2k will be slightly different)

Click on the 'Email Accounts' button.

If you have already configured Outlook on this client, select 'View or change existing email accounts'. If you are setting up Outlook for the first time on this computer, select "add a new email account". Then click next.

Select the account that corresponds to the CS Exchange Server and click "Change..." (if adding an account go to next step).

Ensure that "e2k7.cseresearch.cs.washington.edu" is listed as the exchange server and that your name is displayed. If adding an account, click "check name". If it fails, try your username.

Select "Apply" and then close all the windows.
