Software available locally for installation over the net is located in O:\nt\dist-area. If you are not in a location owned and operated by CSE or you are using a personal portable computer, you can find it at \\ntdfs.cs.washington.edu\cs\nt\dist-area (To access this area, bring up the Windows Explorer, select "Map Network Drive..." under the Tools menu, type "\\ntdfs.cs.washington.edu\cs" in the box named "Path:", and then click OK. The files will show up as a new drive in the Windows Explorer.) Additionally, Microsoft software is available by download over the net via MSDNAA. In most cases, installation is done by double-clicking on a file called "setup.exe". You should also look for README files and files with extention ".txt" (e.g., install.txt) for information that it may be useful to have before starting the installation.
NOTE: There are some instances when a connection to \\ntdfs.cs.washington.edu\cs will fail due to circumstances of your network environment (certain firewalls and/or ISPs). In this case you can also try to map a drive to \\rfilesrv1.cs.washington.edu\dist-area
