Healthcare and Housing

Graduate Health Insurance

Students funded through the UW (e.g., Teaching/Research Assistants or Fellowship recipients) automatically receive Graduate Appointee Insurance Plan coverage, paid for by the UW. In addition, the UW provides 65% of the incremental cost of coverage for a spouse and/or children if the student so desires.

Housing

On-campus housing makes your life simpler: one stop, one bill, one priority: You.

Housing & Food Services (HFS) offers a wide range of options for graduate students, whether single or married, with or without children. Safety, convenience and good value are earmarks of campus housing, and there are so many opportunities for social and professional linkages.

Interested students are encouraged to contact Housing & Food Services for information.

Many graduate students live off campus, and numerous apartments, private rooms, and shared houses can be found both in the University District and elsewhere in the city. Prices vary depending on your desired proximity to campus. A variety of modes of transportation are available to/from the university: walking; biking (including the extensive Burke-Gilman Bicycle Trail); taking an excellent bus system, and driving. Arrangements for housing off-campus should be made individually. Listings of available housing can be found:
