Lunch will be at the Merchant's Cafe, the the West Coast's oldest restaurant still operating in its original location. There is a menu here. The underground tour is a great introduction to the seamier side of Seattle history---and very funny besides. See www.undergroundtour.com Please RSVP to Janet Davis (jlnd@cs). Beers and discussion with last year's first yearsThursday, Sept. 25 Big Time is a favorite brewery among the department. Good selection of house-brewed ales, lagers, and ciders. Fun and delicious sandwiches too. Contact Mike Ringenburg (miker@cs) for details and questions. Boeing TourFriday, Sept. 26 Leave Allen at 1pm, return around 4pm. Tickets cost $10 and Steve and Rachel need to know how many car spaces each person needs: a positive number indicates the number of spaces you need; a negative number indicates the number of spaces you can supply; zero indicates that you drive a motorcycle or have a group that fits well in your vehicle. As an example: imagine that a married couple drives a car that seats five comfortably enough that there are usually still five people at the conclusion of trips that start with five. This couple might submit that they need -3 spaces. Please RSVP to Steve Wolfman (wolf@cs) or Rachel Pottinger (rap@cs) IKEA TripSaturday, Sept. 27 Details TBA. Please contact and RSVP to Adrien Treuille (treuille@cs) PaintballSunday, Sept. 28th (Changed from Saturday) You are all invited to the Second Annual Paintball Fun Day. Paintball is a sport where you shoot paint pellets at each other using paintball markers(guns). Sorta like cowboys and indians, except more real. www.warpig is a good resource for learning more about this sport. We had a blast last year and hope this year will be even better. We are going to a different field and the paintball markers there are MUCH nicer. This invitation is open to all. Invite your friends, your neighbors, your mailman... Please let Jonathan Ko (jonko@cs) know by Sunday, September 21st how many people you're bringing and whether or not you can drive. Thanks! |
