The CSE Holiday Party is an annual gathering in celebration of the many different holidays that seem to happen on or around December in many different religions and cultures. And besides, it's been a few months since the Pit Party, so we clearly need another excuse for us all to get together and talk, eat lots of food, and drink a bit as well.
The Party typically occurs on the Saturday between the last day of instruction and the first day of finals during autumn quarter. Examples of such days would be Dec. 9, 1995. When there is no such Saturday, because the Registrar (or whoever decides such things) likes to confuse us, then someone like the 1996 Holiday Party Coordinator will just have to wing it.
The Party starts at around 6pm and ends around 10pm.
All CSE faculty, staff, and grad students are invited to attend.
Listed below are just some of the things that typically happen at the Party. Actual events in any given year vary.
The Party has several groups of responsibility which the Coordinator and Assistants to said Coordinator shepherd people into. Of course, people are welcome to volunteer for these positions, instead of waiting to be shepherded!
Please bring food to share!
Shared food can fall into many categories, including:
Beverages will be provided.
As noted above, Tradition says that both the faculty and the graduate students organize a Skit to perform during the Party. The Coordinator will find two Directors, one for each Skit. The Directors are designated Assistants and will use the powers invested in them to assemble Writers, a Cast, a Crew and whatever other Personnel they need to carry out the Skits.
And what would a CSE party be without volunteers! Most of them are grad students.
