This web page contains some basic information about the prospective student visit day. If you encounter problems or have any questions, please email PSC Chair.

• WHEN: March 13-14 (Tue-Wed)
• WHERE: Allen Center
• WHO: A bunch of prospectives, a bunch of faculty, and YOU
• WHY: Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting!

Current Grad Student Participation

If you're a current grad, then we need you! Specifically, here's what you can (and should) do:

• Indicate your research interests and availability for one-on-one meetings. Try to make as many slots as possible available - we have lots of visitors who would like to meet you.
• Volunteer to host a prospective. This is a fun experience for both guest and host, and helps us a lot.
• Take a group of visiting grads to lunch on the first visit day (Tuesday 3/13). The department covers up to about $10 per person, with 1 current grad per 3 prospectives. If you're interested, please contact the lunch coordinator.
• Organize a group activity for the second afternoon (Wednesday 3/14). This can be anything fun and/or interesting that you think prospectives would like to do, and is not very expensive (the department will cover costs up to $20 or so, or you could get money from a research group.) Some ideas include:
  • Visit to Seattle Center/Space Needle/EMP
  • Short hike (transportation can be rented from the UW vehicle pool)
  • Bike ride (make sure you can get bikes!)
  • Some kind of sports activity
  • Event - sports (Sonics game?), concert, art show, ...
  Use your imagination!
• In general - be here, be nice, work your charm, and remember that the more first years we get the less TA-ing you'd have to do...
