How do we build a “smart” machine
Program intelligence into digital computers?
- Maybe using clues from biology
Develop an alternative machine modeled after biology?
- Maybe using transistor physics
- Silicon doesn’t know anything about bits!!!
My conjecture: Both are possible
- But the efficiency of the implementation matters greatly
- Scalability, power consumption, reliability
- Constraints on silicon scaling (Moore’s law) may favor the alternative machine for imprecise, ill-posed computation
