This is a test demonstration to judge the feasibility of using RealAudio for such things as distance learning and other forms of education out of the classroom.
To view this presentation, you must be on a computer with a RealAudio player and a graphical web browser. This presentation should work over a 14.4 modem line, but do to limitations of bandwidth, some distortion, or loss of signal, may occur. Also, because some of the slides contain intensize graphics, defaulting to a 14.4 stream with a 28.8 modem might be advisable. This is one of the many things we are--or plan to soon be--testing.
This presentation is the 1996, University of Washington Annual Faculty Lecture, given by Ed Lazowska, on "A Half Century of Exponential Progress in Information Technology: Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How."
It lasts approximately one hour.
Currently, a new, better sounding recording is being worked on. It should be up very soon. Also, you now have the option to force the 14.4 connection (i.e. I effectively made it so you do not have to switch it by hand).
