The 1998-99 Mossy Bits doodle contest

Each year we have a series of inspiring colloquiums, but no way of rating how inspiring they've been. We at Mossy Bits felt that this was an oversight that needed to be fixed, so we announced the Fall Quarter Mossy Bits Doodle Contest. Each week in November, we provided the students in the department with a means of expressing how much they had been inspired. We provided them with paper, pens, and pencils, and the speakers provided the inspiration, and the students provided the raw mental energy. The contest was both for the speaker who provided the most insipiration and the student who provided the most energy.

The entries (arranged by colloquium):

And the winners are:

For most inspiring lecturer.... Tom Anderson

For most inspired doodler....
Maria Gullickson. It's hard to beat someone who's inspired enough to bring pastels.

Thanks to everyone who participated!
