Known Problems
- Ahoy! couldn't find my homepage.
- Ahoy! works in two ways:
- It filters the output of
other search services, and
- It sometimes tries to guess the URL.
If neither technique works, Ahoy! will fail.
Ahoy! does not currently maintain its own list of homepages.
If you are interested to see what the
other services found:
from the "results" screen that is displayed after a search,
follow the link labelled
Ahoy! considered xx references from the Metacrawler.
If you find that one of the other services found your page but
Ahoy! did not display it, please let us know -- that's a bug!
- Ahoy! makes mistakes with hyphenated first names.
- Ahoy won't be able to find anything useful if you
search for "Zsa-Zsa Gabor" (for example). Until we fix this,
try searching for "Zsa Zsa Gabor" instead.
- Ahoy! doesn't work for me.
- Are you using AOL's browser? Unfortunately, Ahoy! is
not compatible with this browser.
- Ahoy! searched for a while and then stopped unexpectedly
before finishing.
- We're trying to track this bug down and squash it, so
if this happens to you, please let us know what time you were searching
and whom you were searching for. Most of the time you can work around
this problem by re-submitting your search.
If it fails all the time though - you're most likely to have encountered
a rather serious bug - tell us
immediately and we will fix it ASAP!
