Richard Anderson is interested in applying computer technology to improve inclass instruction, and in tools and methods for teaching computer science. Two projects of current interest are developing a tablet PC based system for lecture presentation, and other educational applications of the tablet PC. The Education and Educational Technology group is active studying the teaching of computer science and the use of technology in the classroom.

Steve Tanimoto's research focuses on the design and testing of online learning environments. Some key aspects of these environments are (1) support for contemporary pedagogical approaches such as constructionist, constructivist, authentic, project-oriented, and collaborative learning, (2) use of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, image processing, and visual programming, and (3) comprehensive capture and analysis of the digital byproducts of learning.
