Information about the available software

There are four types of digital image processing applications that have been developed as part of the METIP project. The first type of application is the Pixel Calculator. This program allows users to manipulate digital images using simple arithmetic operations on the pixel values. It uses a calculator interface. There are two versions available:  The second type of application is the Image Warper. This application allows users to warp the images through various operations such as axis stretching, rotation, and translation. This program works on monochrome images, and is available only for Windows.

The third type of application is the Transform Programmer. This program allows the user to program arbitrary kinds of transformations on images using a particular programming language. It is more complicated than the other types of applications, but could potentially be more beneficial to a student's education. Currently, only a monochrome version for Windows is available, but color versions for both Macintosh and Windows are planned.

Fourth is a new program called PixelMath. This program was developed after the original METIP grant ended, with partial support from other grants, including, most recently, NSF Grant 0537322. PixelMath is expected to be available at this website in the Autumn of 2010.
