Community Feedback
The Allen School is committed to an inclusive community where everyone can thrive. If something is bothering you about your experience here, please reach out to us or others on campus so we can help you. Unfortunately, a university is a complicated place where the array of options to report and tackle a problem can be dizzying. We recognize a lack of clarity on how to report issues can be challenging. On this page, we aim to provide pointers for various members of our community on how to report different types of problems.
If you experience or observe discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, retaliation for making complaints about those forms of conduct, or other prohibited conduct covered by Executive Order 81, the proper process is to make a Civil Rights and Title IX Report. To learn about support options, reporting, and what happens after a report is made, please visit the UW Civil Rights Compliance Office website or contact their team at civilrights@uw.edu.
LiveWell Confidential Advocates can maintain complete confidentiality and are a resource for people at UW who have experienced sexual assault, relationship violence, or stalking. Others you talk to may not be able to provide confidentiality. Additionally, please be aware that emails and written documents are generally subject to public-records requests, meaning they may not remain confidential, but student-privacy laws mean that student names and other identifying information are likely to remain confidential if you are a student.
For other topics, see the sections below.
For feedback on this page itself, please contact Vice Director Dan Grossman (djg@cs.washington.edu) and Director Magda Balazinska (magda@cs.washington.edu).
Choose the section under Allen School Resources that is right for you and/or see Campus-level Resources below.

To report discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, or related retaliation, please make a Civil Rights and Title IX Report.
If you would like to let us know about other kinds of issues that occurred in an Allen School course, please proceed as follows:
- In many cases, the first course of action is to send the course instructor email. If that does not suffice, you may email the undergraduate advisers (ugrad-adviser@cs.washington.edu) and/or Vice Director Dan Grossman (djg@cs.washington.edu) directly. You should expect an answer within 2-4 business days.
- You can provide feedback via feedback.cs.washington.edu. By default, this feedback goes to the course instructor, but you may add members of the Allen School academic and advising leadership and/or remove the instructor. This feedback is processed within 2-4 business days.If you would like a reply, please email people directly instead of using the form because the form will not include your name, and so we have no way of getting back to you.
