Asking Questions & Getting Help

It is very important to us that you succeed in EE/CSE 371! Outside of lectures and labs, there are several ways to ask questions or discuss course issues:

  1. Visit labs and office hours! See the Weekly Calendar for current availability, noting that these will all be run in a hybrid fashion (in-person AND virtual).
  2. Make a public post about course content on the , where they benefit the whole class. This also allows other students to answer your question so can receive a faster response. This is the best way of asking questions about class-related topics.
  3. Make a private post to just the course staff on the with any issues you would prefer to discuss privately or questions that involve solutions or partial solutions for ongoing assignments.
  4. Request a 1-on-1 using . If you feel like you need extra time, can't make it to office hours, or want to discuss something privately, please feel free to request a 1-on-1 from the staff!
  5. Send to the course staff. The instructor will try to address the issue and share it with others only as appropriate, but will not have a way to reply to you without addressing the whole class.

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR ACADEMIC PATH?
- I grew up in Vancouver Washington and started UW in 2021. I'm majoring in Computer Engineering and minoring in Laboratory Physics. Before TAing this course I was a lead TA for the CSE 12X series for 2 years. My end goal is to hopefully be an introductory programming professor some day!

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES, TALENTS, AND SKILLS?
- My current favorites are D&D, not killing my plants, reading fantasy books, and playing competetive Pokemon.

HAVE YOU DONE OR EXPERIENCED ANYTHING REMARKABLE OR MEMORABLE?
- During the pandemic my friends and I made a card game called The Bear Game. The game was sold in stores in several states and was recently aquired by Qoukka Toys. I also have created several assignments and other course content for CSE 121 and 122 which hopefully will be used for many years to come.

WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS QUARTER?
- I'm developing an IEEE compliant compact FPU for my project in CSE 470 and a TBD project for CSE 475. I'm also an officer for ACE (Association for Computing Eduction). My main responsibility is creating graphics for marketing and outreach.

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR ACADEMIC PATH?
- I grew up 20 minutes away from UW in Kirkland and entered UW in 2020 as an Engineering Undeclared major. During my second-year placement, I chose to major in EE, though the following year I switched into the ECE version of the major, in which I'm loosely following the machine learning pathway. Alongside my major, I am also pursuing a minor in Data Science. I will be graduating with my Bachelor's at the end of this quarter and plan to enter the industry afterward.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES, TALENTS, AND SKILLS?
- I like reading, badminton, and recently tennis (though I'm terrible at it). Over the past couple years I've also started cooking and baking a lot more and love trying out new recipes.

HAVE YOU DONE OR EXPERIENCED ANYTHING REMARKABLE OR MEMORABLE?
- After the pandemic, my family visited India to visit extended family for the first time in seven years. Reconnecting with everyone after so long and meeting new family I hadn't had chance to meet before was a very meaningful and memorable experience for me.

WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS QUARTER?
- Outside of being a TA for this course, I will be completing the capstones for both my major and minor (EE 475 and CS&SS 490). Since I'm finishing up the last of my credits before I graduate this Spring, my course load is pretty light.

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR ACADEMIC PATH?
- After completing my undergraduate studies in India from 2017 to 2021, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Instrumentation from Vellore Institute of Technology. Following that, worked at Deloitte for a year, where I served as an Analyst in Consulting. However, my passion for electronic hardware led me to transition into the field, and I spent another year working at a startup focused on implementing RISC-V processors on FPGAs.Currently, I am a first-year Master of Science student in Electrical and Computer Engineering, conducting research under the guidance of Professor Scott Hauck.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES, TALENTS, AND SKILLS?
- I play Indian classical flute (always trying to get better at it, but it is so loud!). I also try to play soccer once a week and abolutely love going on nature trails and hikes.

HAVE YOU DONE OR EXPERIENCED ANYTHING REMARKABLE OR MEMORABLE?
- Moving to a new country for my graduate studies and dealing with the challenges that come daily with it is definitely proving to be one of my most remarkable experiences.

WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS QUARTER?
- Alongside being a TA for this course, I would also be working on my research, as well as managing time between my coursework for EE526 and EE576.

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR ACADEMIC PATH?
- I grew up in the Spanaway/Parkland area of Washington, and went to Bethel High School. I started at UW in 2020 as an engineering undeclared, and chose to go into EE. I am actually an ECE major now, but basically the same thing. Most coursework I have taken is in digital logic and VLSI, but this year I gained an interest in analog integrated circuits and have been taking some coursework on that throughout the year too. I will be graduating with my B.S. at the end of this quarter, and I plan on pursuing my M.S. starting next year.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES, TALENTS, AND SKILLS?
- Once upon a time I was an active viola player (cooler than the violin) and tennis player. Between the Pandemic and starting school I have mostly lost both of those, though I do still get to the tennis court on occasion and I am hoping to get back on the viola after graduation. I also love to go on hikes with friends, try new restaurants and bars, and improve my currently limited cooking skills.

HAVE YOU DONE OR EXPERIENCED ANYTHING REMARKABLE OR MEMORABLE?
- For a couple years in high school, my family was involved with my Aunt's family in the sale of a house. It was a unique experience for me to work on repairs and preparing the house for sale, and I got a lot of good memories from it spending a lot of time with my brother and cousins during that defining period of my life.

WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS QUARTER?
- Besides TAing for this course, I am taking two capstone courses in EE 437 and EE 478, which I imagine will be eating up a good chunk of my bandwidth this quarter.

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR ACADEMIC PATH?
- My parents are Belgian, but I mostly grew up in/around Boston, Berlin, and DC. I got a B.S. in math from Georgetown University (2014-2017) and a B.S. in computer engineering from Columbia University (2017-2019). I worked at a digital signal processing startup 2019-2021. Now I'm a 3rd year PhD student in CSE doing research in Molecular Computing with Chris Thachuk.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES, TALENTS, AND SKILLS?
- I do triathlons (as an amateur), and I also love playing pool and soccer.

HAVE YOU DONE OR EXPERIENCED ANYTHING REMARKABLE OR MEMORABLE?
- I grew up with 9 siblings so probably but I forget!

WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS QUARTER?
- 1. TAing for 371, 2. PhD research 3. TEALS HS teaching

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR ACADEMIC PATH?
- I grew up in Sammamish, WA and went to Skyline HS. I started at UW in 2020 as Engineering Undeclared, then began my major in EE one year later. I have been focusing on computer architecture and VLSI, and will be pursuing a Masters degree in the fall.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES, TALENTS, AND SKILLS?
- My primary skills used to be swimming and piano, but those kind of got benched during COVID. I still love swimming and music, and am planning to get back into them after this summer. Outside of classes, I love trying new food and have been attempting to learn how to cook.

HAVE YOU DONE OR EXPERIENCED ANYTHING REMARKABLE OR MEMORABLE?
- Last summer I went to South Korea twice, which was really cool. I went once with a program through my summer internship, then again on a vacation. Both were unique experiences that were personally meaningful to me, and I would highly recommend visiting if you have the opportunity.

WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS QUARTER?
- Aside from TAing this class, I will be taking EE478 (VLSI capstone) and continuing some research work. It's my last quarter here before graduation, so my courseload is light.
