Title: Puddle: A High-Level Programming System for Microfluidics

Advisors: Luis Ceze and Karin Strauss

Abstract: Domains from molecular systems to medical diagnostics rely on microfluidic devices for automation. This doesn't just make things faster; it's essential to minimizing human error and enabling new, more complex applications. Puddle borrows ideas from programming languages and computer systems to make microfluidic automation cheaper, more reliable, and easier to use.

This talk will introduce the domain of microfluidics and its many potential applications. We will discuss how the Puddle system addresses many challenges in the field, and we'll touch on how other computer science ideas could apply to the world of microfluidics.
