Grand Challenge 5
How do we make high-quality cognitive and mental health support available to all?
More than one-third of the nearly 1.3 million adults in Washington state with a mental health condition in 2023 did not receive the care they needed — a situation that is repeated in communities across the country and around the world.
Cost and a shortage of behavioral health providers are two of the factors that prevent people from accessing mental health treatment. Allen School researchers are working with clinicians and community partners to explore how technology can be used to massively improve access to and quality of cognitive and mental health support for all.
