Postdoc Faculty Coordinator

Brian Curless, Professor, joined the Computer Science & Engineering faculty at the University of Washington after earning his Ph.D. from Stanford University, and B.S. from the University of Texas, Austin. Professor Curless's research interests span a number of areas in computer graphics and vision, including computational photography, multi-view stereo, 3D range scanning, surface shape and appearance reconstruction and modeling, and 3D interaction.

Kate Gayle

Professional Master's and Postdoctoral Program Manager

Kate has served as the Postdoctoral Program Manager since 2020 and has been at UW in various capacities since 2007. She manages postdoctoral scholars' community-building and professional development initiatives and ensures the Allen School's postdocs are connected to resources for making postdoc experience successful and leading them toward their career aspirations.

Kate is also the program manager and academic adviser for the Professional Master's Program, where she is the primary point of contact for prospective and continuing PMP students at any point in their time in the program, pre-application through graduation.

New postdocs

All incoming postdocs complete an orientation with Kate shortly after their arrival to the Allen School. Its goal is to compliment their onboarding/HR orientation and be a first step toward establishing community beyond their PI or lab group. Postdocs are introduced to various postdoc-specific resources and amenities in the Allen School and at UW with special emphasis on those designed to support their personal and professional development.
