Projects are a very large component of 454. In the past we've had students build a complete crawler from scratch. One year teams built a specialized webcam-crawler & search engine. Last year, the focus was on information extraction.
This time we offer a choice. More on this shortly.
Problem Component 1:In order to get everyone up to speed and going on their projects, we will start off with a shared initial component --- using supervised machine learning (Naive Bayes) to build a document classifier. Details are here. This component is due 10/13/09 before class.
Proposals for the remainder of your project are due at the same time. Please do your best to include all the information requested.
Each group will have a sequence of 1-1 meetings with Dan to discuss and debug project proposals. Check the schedule for the first set of meetings, the second set of meetings, and the third set of meetings.
Project DeliverablesHere are some notes on initial Specifications, end-of-term in-class Presentations and Final Written Reports
