Olympic Coast Sunset
Olympic National Park, Washington
February 1993
Margaret and I love backpacking the rugged Olympic coast in the winter,
feeling braced by the stormy weather and enjoying the accompanying solitude.
On this trip, however, we didn't get the expected rain squalls. Instead,
we hit a rare patch of clear and chilly weather. The views were stunningly
crisp, and the only downside was the sunfreezing temperature which coated
both rocks and driftwood with treacherous ice during the night.
