Student Organizations
The Allen School has many registered student organizations (RSOs) that are affiliated with the Allen School for the 2026-2027 academic year. Allen School Affiliated Student Organizations are a great way for Allen School undergraduate students to find community within the Allen School (and beyond!). Our student organizations are split up into four categories: community organizations, affinity organizations, career & industry organizations, and technical organizations. Participation in these organizations is open to all – it is not restricted by race, gender, or other protected characteristics. You can click on the external links provided to learn more about each organization (note: these links are not maintained by the Allen School).

Community Organizations
Community Allen School Student Organizations operate in service of the Allen School undergraduate student community. Their main functions are to engage the student body socially, provide opportunities to develop community, and enhance the general student sense of belonging within the Allen School.
Computing Community (COM²)
Computing Community (COM²) is a student organization dedicated to making the University of Washington’s Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering feel like home. We build community through department-wide socials, mentorship opportunities, career and academic programming, recreational activities, and student outreach. Our goal is to help Allen School students form meaningful connections, access valuable resources, and feel supported throughout their CSE experience!
Student Advisory Council (SAC)
The CSE Student Advisory Council (SAC) is a student organization that serves as the Allen School’s undergraduate student government. Our mission is to amplify voices across the Allen School by representing students and working to improve the student experience. Our work includes collecting student feedback, producing reports, hosting events, leading initiatives, and facilitating conversations between faculty and undergraduates. Affinity Student Organizations
Open to all Allen School undergraduate students, Affinity Organizations center the experiences of students who are underrepresented in computing. Their main functions are to advocate for affinity-focused needs within the Allen School and enhance a community where all Allen School undergraduate students feel valued and can thrive.
Ability
Ability is an Allen School student group established 2021 by students with disabilities. Our mission is to provide a strong community for students with disabilities to get support from one another and allies, and to educate our community about disability and the importance of accessibility in our world. Everyone is welcome, whether you have a disability or not!
Black in Computer Science and Engineering (BCSE)
Black in Computer Science and Engineering brings together students of all backgrounds and identities across the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering who want to support and grow a community centered on Black students in computing. We strive to create a space where members feel a sense of belonging and grow together within the Allen School, personally, academically, and professionally.
GEN1
GEN1 aims to celebrate and support the Allen School’s incredible first-generation community by providing resources and a community to ensure academic, professional, and personal success.
Minorities in Tech (MiT)
Minorities in Technology’s (MiT) mission is to act as a forum to build and foster an inclusive, multicultural environment for underrepresented minority (URM) students in CSE. We strive to create a safe and empowering environment where URM students can thrive academically, socially, and professionally. Through events and collaborations, we build pathways to opportunities, foster a community where everyone feels like they belong, and ensure that URM are heard and valued.
Muslims in CSE (MiCSE)
Muslims in CSE is a student organization dedicated to building a supportive community for Muslim students within the Allen School. We foster a space where students can connect over shared faith and identity while navigating academic and professional life in tech. Through mentorship, social events, and networking opportunities, we aim to support Muslim students’ success and belonging in CSE, while welcoming allies who want to learn and engage with our community.
Q++
Q++ provides community, support, and engagement for the LGBTQ+ community and allies within the Allen School. We hold a variety of social events and get-togethers, ranging from our quarterly brunches to craft nights or movie nights. All are welcome!
Women in Computing (WiC)
Women in Computing at the University of Washington is a group of students in the Paul G. Allen School (of all genders and orientations) dedicated to cultivating a strong, supportive community of women within the Allen School. We strive to help members succeed academically, socially and professionally, and we believe in demonstrating the importance and necessity of diversity in computing.
Career & Industry Student Organizations
Career & Industry Allen School Student Organizations exist to connect students to the professional field of computer science and engineering. Their main functions are to prepare students for post-collegiate life, develop career-related programming and support, and work in conjunction with the Allen School Industry Affiliates Program. The career & industry partners these groups are affiliated with are expected to connect with our programming.
Algorithmic Trading Club (ATC)
Algorithmic Trading Club is focused on cultivating early talent and technical expertise in quantitative research and algorithm development. Open to students of all experience levels and backgrounds, ATC members are united by grit, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for quantitative finance. The club collaborates closely to develop research papers, compete in competitions, and engage in skill-building workshops. ATC stands as the leading student-led hub for financial engineering talent development in the Pacific Northwest.
Association for Computing Education (ACE)
The Association for Computing Education (ACE) is a student organization dedicated to promoting computer science education, research, and outreach. We provide resources and events to help students connect with TA opportunities, academia, and other computing education communities in the University of Washington. Our club is open to all UW students, but based in the Allen School for Computer Science & Engineering.
AWS Student Builder Group at the University of Washington (AWS SBG UW)
AWS Student Builder Group at the University of Washington is a student-led organization that helps students learn cloud computing through hands-on workshops, projects, and community events, regardless of prior experience.

Our mission is to inspire engineering students @ UW to be innovators. We do this through cool programs and events, like chatting with startup founders + student builders and hands-on experiences in Buildspace and BuildHER, where our members can dive in, find community, learn, and bring their passion projects to life. We’re all about fostering a culture of innovation and purpose, so students can approach their engineering journey with passion, creativity, and a fresh perspective. less talk, more action! 🙂
DubHacks
DubHacks is a tech and entrepreneurship non-profit in Seattle run by students at the University of Washington. We bring together students of all backgrounds to tackle the issues they are most passionate about. Let’s build tomorrow together.
Software Engineering Career Club (SWECC)
We are a student-led organization at the University of Washington that helps students prepare for and succeed in software engineering careers. We provide career-development resources, technical workshops, networking events, mentorship, interview preparation, and opportunities to gain practical experience through open-source projects. Our goal is to make software engineering opportunities more accessible while helping students strengthen their technical skills, professional networks, and confidence.
Technical Student Organizations
Technical Allen School Student Organizations function to work on computer science and engineering-focused projects and programs. Their main functions are to host project-based programs directly related to computer science and/or engineering and to connect Allen School students with opportunities to explore technical aspects of experiential learning.
Autonomous Robotics Team (ART)
The Autonomous Robotics Team is an RSO that aims to develop a generalized ROS2-based simulation and robotics software platform that can be adapted to support various engineering RSOs. We are currently partnered with Husky Robotics to develop an autonomy platform for their Mars rover. ART consists of the core software team and frontend software teams. ART members have the opportunity to implement key computer science skills learned in the Allen school into a real-world development environment.
Computing for Environmental and Social Advocacy (CESA)
Using computer science for social justice and sustainability, and ensuring that the latest technological advancements are ethical and equitable.
Extended Reality Association (XRA)
XRA is a student-led community at UW dedicated to exploring the frontiers of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Spatial Intelligence. We empower builders and designers through hands-on learning, accessible resources, and a collaborative platform to create, share, and grow.
Husky Coding Project (HCP)
Husky Coding Project is a student organization at University of Washington that aims to provide a space for students, regardless of major or background, to gain group project work experience within the tech field.
Interactive Intelligence (i2)
Interactive Intelligence (i2) is UW’s research organization in intelligence. We explore intelligence from different aspects, including biological intelligence and artificial intelligence. We teach students how to explore intelligence, through our programs and courses. i2 gives all passionate students and individuals fundamental skills in machine learning, neuroanatomy, AI, and research principles.
No longer constrained by traditional barriers to knowledge, we provide access to the latest knowledge and help students begin their own research, empowering them to shape the future of intelligence.
Synaptech
Synaptech is the University of Washington’s neural engineering organization, where students build hands-on neurotechnologies. We bring together computer science, engineering, and neuroscience through student-led project cycles, technical workshops, and an annual hackathon. Members apply classroom skills to real-world biological problems. It’s a space to build portfolio projects, develop technical leadership, and connect with the broader Seattle neurotech community.
Allen School Affiliated Organizations
Computing-related Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) and RSOs whose mission is to create a community for Allen School students may apply to become Affiliated with the Allen School.
Allen School Affiliated Student Organization Benefits
- Allen School Funding ($1500 per organization for the 2025-2026 academic year; subject to change depending on the number of affiliated organizations)
- Approval to reserve Gates Center Classrooms up to five times per quarter for free
- Access to the Student Groups closet with shared resources
- Marking on the Allen School Website
- Ability to market to the Allen School Community via a weekly newsletter
- Invitation to participate in Allen School programming (e.g. Welcome Day, Admitted Student Day)
- Leadership Training & Development
Applying to affiliate as an Allen School Affiliated Student Organization
- We accept applications once per year. The application is due on June 1st of each year effective for the following academic year. We do not accept late applications.
- RSOs will hear back by June 30th if they are an approved Allen School Affiliated Organization for the following academic year or not.
- Allen School students will receive an email announcement via the Allen School EdBoard regarding the Allen School Student Organization Application process in the mid-spring quarter.
- Organizations must already be an established University of Washington RSO to apply to affiliate.
- All RSOs must apply to re-affiliate with the Allen School even if they were affiliated previously.
