Mission Statement
The Allen School Student Recruitment Representatives aim to expand access to the Allen School through increasing the visibility of our Direct to Major and transfer admissions pathways in underserved communities and connecting prospective students with admissions counseling resources.
About The Program
The Student Recruitment Representatives provide near-to-peer advising for applicants to the Computer Science or Computer Engineering majors at the UW’s Seattle campus. In particular, we focus on supporting Washington state high schools and community colleges where students may have limited access to college preparatory resources. We aim to inspire future Allen School students throughout the recruitment process, from first discovering our undergraduate program through the admitted student experience.
What We Do
Our core initiatives focus on helping future students imagine themselves in the Allen School. We do this by showcasing student voices and providing clear and accurate admissions information to ensure that prospective students are prepared for their next steps. These activities include:
- Prospective and Admitted Student Events
We lead sessions at Allen School recruitment events including Allen School Preview Day, Transfer Exploration, the Direct Admit Virtual Event Series, and many more! Our information sessions are offered monthly and in-person attendees are welcome to stay for a tour of the two Allen School buildings! - High School and Community College Visits
We travel to schools throughout Washington state for college fairs, recruitment presentations, and student panels. Head over to the School & Group Visits page to invite us to your school! Please note that the Student Recruitment Representatives can only accept requests between October – May each year. - Social Media
